JAIPONGAN
Jaipongan is also called as jaipong. It is a traditional music of Indonasia mainly used for dance.

How it evolved
Around the year 1961 the indonasian president Sukarno banned rock n roll, rock and other western music forms from entering indonasia. He wanted to develop the traditional music of indonasia which was depleating enormously. He challenged the musicians to revive the traditional music in a way that would be acceptable and enthralling.A musician called Gumgum Gabria took the challenge and studied the traditional music and arts for over twelve years. As a result of his research this style of music called Jaipongan evolved.

STRUCTURE AND COMPOSITION
This style of music does not have a constant rythamic pattern unlike the other forms of music. This has one of the most complex rhythm variations.Jaipongan does not have any defined structure.

The essence of jaipongan music was derived from a village ritual music canned ketku tilu. The dance moves were predemonantly from pecak silat which is an indinatioan martial art.The music also had origin from Topeng banjet which is a theater dance and Wayang golek which is a puppet theater.

INSTRUMENTS USED
It uses pot gong and other small gongs.
Rebab-a spike fiddle
A barrel drum
A lead vocal singer who is mostly a female.

MARABI

                     Colloquially rare

MARABI-This is one of the genres of music that has remained out of reach through the years.

HOW DID THIS EVOLVE?

Well. It all started with a couple of Africans working in a gold mine. They were exhausted and they wanted something like a deviation to support their spirits. They were the pioneers of this genre.

Musically

It is not that strict with the traditions nor the rules. It is a genre made just for entertainment. With the growth of interests the genre started getting serious and now some real stuff is put in here.

It has a lot of influences of American jazz, played along with a native African soul. It has a very simple structure wherein simple chord arpeggios, drum grooves and casual singing prevail allover. But it has its own identity in terms of its feel. it gives a feel that no other genre gives. u should try it sometime..
